Back to Finland we go.
I want to say congratulations to Jeb for signing one of his best contracts yet.
Although our plan was to get out of Finland, it seems, money talks.
Obviously, getting paid to play basketball is pretty amazing, but getting paid what you feel you have earned and deserve is even better. Jeb most certainly earned and deserved this contract and although I feel like it came five years too late, I guess the saying goes, "It's better late than never."
It's funny though, in my opinion, Jeb is still being stolen, for what he does for a team. Yes, I am his wife and that does make me biased, but all of that aside, I know sports, I know athletes, and I know Jeb. There is not a more hard working or humble individual I have ever seen. My work ethic has always been a point of pride for me and Jeb squashes that like a bug. Add to that, his talent and it should be a no-brainer for a team to sign him. But it has never been that way. Jeb has always had to prove himself, he has never been given anything and yet here he is going to play his 9th season in Europe. He seriously amazes me.
I still get frustrated when I see guys he has played with or against getting six figure contracts, because most of them aren't nearly as deserving as he is, and Jeb has yet to even sniff what 100,000 USD smells like. But ask Jeb what he thinks about his job and he will tell you it is only a job if you don't love what you do.
Outside of being an amazing player, I know basketball holds something even greater for Jeb.
He has both the mind of a player and a coach and although Jeb will probably hang em' up over the next few years, I can promise you that he will be one of the best basketball coaches the sport has ever seen.
And when that happens, something else you can be sure of, I will be on sideline, just as I always am, as loyal and as supportive as ever. That's just the life of a hardwood dime! :)
Stay tuned.
